"I joined MoonDance West African dance classes at the age of 50, as someone who had never danced before. The sheer joy and exuberance that Nikko gives out, the wonderful sound of the live drumming, and the fun, safe atmosphere to just be free and express yourself made it a regular spot in my week for many years. I would highly recommend this class to absolutely anyone!"

"We are so grateful for MoonDance and for Nikko’s beautiful work with our Seedlings Childcare children, ages one to five. Nikko has a remarkable ability to truly connect with young children, she gently gathers their attention, meets them where they are, and draws them into movement with warmth, joy, and ease. Her classes are engaging, playful, and developmentally thoughtful, offering so much more than dance alone. Through world music, rhythm, and creative movement, Nikko supports early learning in meaningful ways that connect to math, literacy, and a growing understanding of music. She is incredibly skilled, adaptable, and flexible, and we especially love her willingness to take learning outdoors, embracing nature and movement together. MoonDance is a gift to our program, and Nikko’s presence brings energy, creativity, and connection to every class."

"I have been doing West African dance with Nikko for several years and it is so much fun! It is a friendly and welcoming community and I always look forward to Friday nights. Nikko has such positive energy and infectious enthusiasm. She breaks down the steps and creates a really fun and relaxed atmosphere. I love how this is the kind of dance that both beginners and seasoned dancers can do together. And with live drumming!"

"We love when Nikko brings her energy and imagination to Gonzales Preschool. Nikko offers various props and music to facilitate creativity with our children. There is always something new along with something familiar in each session. Our preschoolers are taught dance moves and encouraged to explore their own. Nikko also prompts them to join her in song, sign language and silliness. So much joy! As an early years educator, I see the intentional planning in each class and have enjoyed participating for 15 years and hope Nikko continues to return for years to come. "

“My daughter Ruby and I loved to explore movement in the classes. Throughout her class, Ruby grew a confident spirit as she explored all kinds of worldly dance forms complete with handmade props and beautiful instruments. Nikko’s lessons are packed with learning, socializing, singing, reading and nature education all through dance! Nikko’s kindness, generous heart and dedication is truly unique. We are so happy to have joined MoonDance and become more deeply connected to our community while freely fostering our joy of dance."

"Nikko's classes are always joyful and lighthearted. I've been dancing with Nikko for years and her classes make dance so approachable for everyone - including my shy and tentative daughter. All shapes, sizes and abilities are welcome. She breaks down rhythms and steps into manageable bits, with options for more or less, depending on how you're feeling in that moment ... But, honestly, it's all about the joy of movement, movement that's connected to incredible live drumming."

"I discovered West African Dance with MoonDance at a time where I was keen to move my body in new and fun ways, particularly after a period of being more sedentary. I certainly came to the right place. It has been one of the most exuberant, liberating, and joyful dancing I have ever experienced, and Nikko’s passion, patience and honour of the traditions are unparalleled. Thank you so much for sharing these gifts with us!"

"I have been bringing my two daughters, now 18 months and almost 4, to dance class with Nikko for 6 months now and feel so grateful to have found this activity for them. Nikko is such a calm, kind, creative individual and she adapts the class to best suit the kids abilities and moods each week. The music, props, and dances are so well thought out and are different from ones we've seen in other dance classes. The 3 of us look forward to our dance time and have no plan to stop!"
